The Festival of Lights was conceived 35 years ago by four visionary Summerland businessmen: Jerry Hallquist, Art Sewell, Allan Fabbi, and Bruce Hallquist. Under the umbrella of the Downtown Business Improvement Area, this festival initially aimed to showcase the businesses of downtown Summerland. Today, it continues to thrive as a premier holiday event not only in Summerland but throughout the entire Okanagan region.
The 2023 Summerland Light Up promises a delightful array of activities for all ages. From live musical performances to kid-focused activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Explore over 40 vendors, capture selfies with Santa, witness the enchanting Light Up the Vines sneak peek, and join the mini-parade! Indulge in delicious treats from food trucks, visit Santa’s Workshop, or send him a letter from the post office instead. Immerse yourself in the Light Up the Arts exhibition at the Summerland Art Gallery, and prepare to be dazzled by the grand fireworks display presented by Summerland Credit Union.
